Commercial Excavation Contractor in Utah

When a general contractor or developer needs site work done on time and within budget, the excavation contractor they choose determines whether the schedule holds. AccuRite Excavating has been the commercial excavation contractor Utah builders have counted on since 1995. We’re E100 licensed, commercially bonded, and have completed projects for retail centers, multi-family developments, industrial sites, and subdivisions across the Wasatch Front.

We run a full fleet of heavy equipment and have the bonding and insurance required for commercial contracts. If you’re a GC coordinating multiple trades on a tight schedule, we understand what that means.

Commercial Project Types

Building Pads and Site Prep

Getting a building pad to the right elevation and compaction is the foundation of every commercial build. We handle clearing and grubbing, cut and fill work, rough grading, and fine grading to design elevations. We work from civil plans and coordinate directly with your project engineer.

Wasatch Front soil conditions vary by location. Sites closer to the foothills may require blasting or rock grinding. Valley-floor properties in West Ogden, Roy, or Riverdale tend toward sandy soils that excavate quickly but need careful compaction testing.

Parking Lots and Paved Areas

Parking lot subgrade preparation is one of the most underappreciated parts of commercial construction. Poor subgrade work shows up years later as pavement failures. We grade parking areas to proper drainage slopes, install storm drainage infrastructure, and compact the subbase to geotechnical specifications.

Strip Malls and Retail Centers

Retail pad sites along State Road 89, Washington Boulevard, and the 12th Street corridor in Ogden often involve tight schedules tied to tenant opening dates. We’ve worked on projects where multiple pads are being developed simultaneously. Coordination matters. We show up when we say we will.

Multi-Family and Apartment Developments

Multi-family site development in Northern Utah typically involves mass grading for building footprints, underground utility installation, parking and drive aisle preparation, and storm water infrastructure. These projects often require phased excavation work timed to building construction sequences. We’re accustomed to working within a larger construction schedule.

Industrial and Warehouse Sites

Large industrial sites along I-15 and in Weber County’s industrial corridors require heavy grading equipment, precise elevation control, and proper drainage planning. We have the fleet size and experience for large-footprint industrial site preparation.

Subdivisions and Land Development

Subdivision site development starts with mass grading to rough finished lot grades, continues with road subgrade preparation, and includes utility corridor excavation for water, sewer, and storm systems. We’ve worked on projects in various stages, from raw agricultural land to infill development sites within existing neighborhoods.

Capabilities and Equipment

AccuRite runs a fleet that includes excavators, bulldozers, scrapers, motor graders, and compaction equipment. We’re not a one-machine operation that will slow your schedule down waiting on equipment.

Commercial bonding and insurance: We carry the bonding required for commercial contracts along with general liability and workers’ compensation coverage. Your general contractor and project owner will receive certificates of insurance before work begins.

E100 license: Utah’s E100 Excavation Contractor license covers the full scope of commercial site work. We’re current on all licensing requirements.

Permit coordination: Commercial projects in Weber and Davis counties require grading permits, sometimes storm water pollution prevention plans (SWPPPs), and coordination with city or county engineering. We handle this regularly and know the local requirements.

How Commercial Site Work Gets Done

Phase 1: Review and Planning

We review your civil plans, grading plan, and utility drawings before mobilizing. If there are questions about constructability, drainage, or sequencing, it’s better to address them before equipment hits the ground. We’ll coordinate with your engineer if needed.

Phase 2: Site Mobilization and Clearing

We call Blue Stakes, establish site access, and begin clearing and grubbing. Trees, brush, existing concrete, and debris are removed and hauled off or ground on-site depending on the scope. See our demolition services for projects that involve existing structures.

Phase 3: Mass Grading

This is the main phase: moving material from cut areas to fill areas, building up pads, shaping drainage swales, and establishing rough grades. We do our own earthwork calculations and track progress against the grading plan.

Phase 4: Fine Grading and Compaction

After mass grading, we bring the site to design grade with a motor grader, then compact in lifts to meet your geotechnical specifications. Compaction testing is typically coordinated through your project’s geotechnical engineer.

Phase 5: Utility Coordination

Underground utility installation often runs alongside or immediately after grading. We can handle utilities as part of the same contract, which simplifies scheduling and accountability.

Working With General Contractors

We know that as a GC, your reputation is tied to the subcontractors you use. We don’t disappear when things get complicated. We communicate schedule changes, flag issues when we see them, and show up for the work we commit to.

AccuRite has worked with general contractors across Weber, Davis, and Box Elder counties on projects ranging from $50,000 site prep jobs to multi-million dollar subdivision developments. We’re familiar with the documentation requirements, lien waiver processes, and scheduling demands of commercial construction.

If you’re bidding a commercial project and need a reliable excavation sub, call us early. We can provide detailed take-offs from your civil plans.
